ABS Filament Printing Techniques – 3D Printer Enclosure Ideas

Posted by & filed under Video Post.

In today’s video Steve experiments with using multiple techniques for holding ABS 3D parts to glass that all have been rumored to work. The results were surprising and the solution we are currently using is revealed. Discussion is also placed on using and building a cabinet to house a 3D printer to control it’s environment.

ABS Plastic is a great material preferred over PLA for rapid prototyping parts because it is harder and much more durable and heat resistant as a finished part. However, printing it flat and and keeping the part held down on the glass the entire print run can be a BIG challenge.

Some of the techniques tried were several types of hair spay, mixing and using ABS Juice from scrap ABS and acetone and Elmer’s school glue stick.
