Today we take a closer look at one of the mechanical wonders of our time and explore how a computer mechanical hard drive works. The hard drive is the computer’s main storage media device that permanently stores all data on the computer. The hard drive was first introduced in 1956 and consists of one or more hard drive platters sealed inside of air sealed casing. They connect to the computers motherboard using either ATA, SCSI, or a SATA cables.
Also in this video is a good explanation of how to set up IDE drive jumpers for changing drive configurations.
