Event logs within Windows are small information files that are recorded when significant things happen while using a computer such as when a program encounters an error or hangup. When these types of events occur, a detailed record of the event is recorded in the appropriate log type that can be read at a later date using the Event Viewer
Please note that most of the log entries contain no thrills technical data so administrators or advanced users will most likely benefit the greatest by using the event logs when troubleshooting problems with Windows and other programs.
Please note that you must be logged on as an administrator to make changes using the event viewer.
